Free tier: close blinds on sun-facing windows before the afternoon, run ceiling fans counter-clockwise so 25°C feels like 23, and set the thermostat to 24–25°C instead of 21 — each degree up saves several percent.
Cheap tier: a fresh filter (a choked filter makes the A/C work harder for less cooling), clearing plants and debris 60 cm around the outdoor unit, and gently rinsing the condenser fins with a hose.
Equipment tier: an annual spring tune-up keeps refrigerant charge and airflow where the efficiency rating assumes they are, and if your unit is 15+ years old, a modern replacement or heat pump can cut cooling costs dramatically — with rebates doing part of the lifting.
